The Truths About Blogging

Saturday, September 16, 2017

None of us like to hear the realities of blogging. I didn't want to either. It took me a quite some time to understand the journey of blogging. I am just a student anyway, I am an amateur, and these are what I have encountered along the way that made me go "Hmm, so this is the truth of blogging, huh?" These are just my opinions and please take it with a grain of salt.

The Truths About Blogging | Lenne Zulkiflly

Blogging takes up a lot of time

I am a student and a lot of my time should just be focused to school stuff, no? But you guys, I didn't realize how into it I would be in terms of blogging. Only with blogging I have noticed that just how passionate I am about it. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so engrossed in blogging so much but I do love it so much. I know I am confusing, I know. I just didn't realize how much time and effort people put in order to sort things out.

You have to take blog photos, you have to have nice flatlays, keep active on social media platforms to engage with other bloggers and promote your content. Not to mention that you need to think what type of content you want to write next on the blog. It. Requires. So. Much. Time. And. Effort. I love blogging but I do find that it can be a little overwhelming sometimes considering the amount of effort needed to run the blog.

Being active is a must

Cannot believe I said that but you will get me. You will get me. You know, some days, you don't feel like blogging. Some days, you just want to chill and do absolutely nothing. Some days, you just feel the need to take some time off from the blog. Same goes to me. But gurl, who doesn't love a consistent blog? Who doesn't like a stable content? People adore stability. And I, myself, is totally lacking in that department.

This is the truth, you guys. I was seeing that number of views and traffic keep on decreasing, decreasing and decreasing. It was upsetting but I just don't see myself putting up a content every 2-3 days every time. I just don't. *sigh*

Everything has to be beautiful

I am not a photography student, I didn't take any photography classes or workshops. No. I am an amateur. I happen to see tons of beautiful photography on the blogging world. Everyone has at least one beautiful, fancy camera to take all their photos that turned out nice every time. Not to mention about the props. In order to be beautiful, it requires a lot of money, honey. Don't you think? I am over here sitting and wishing I have those stuff to up my photography game.

You actually don't need a fancy camera to take photos

Yes, you read that right. Don't get me wrong, if you have one of those fancy cameras in hand, just use it. You do you, boo. This is just my opinion that I wish I knew earlier before I started blogging. If you were like yours truly, just don't feel obligated to have a fancy camera in order to take photos. You can use whatever that you have in hand! And in my case, it's my smartphone. I am using a very 'cikai' phone, that's what Malays said. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 right now that its battery is just driving me nuts but has done me so much great works.

Okay, the key is to use natural lighting and a nice backdrop or background or whatever you want to call it. Then, you have to have bomb ass photo editing apps. That's all! I use 2 apps, VSCO and Snapseed to edit my photos if anybody was wondering. I made a post dedicated to this a while back HERE

I swear by these 2 apps and I admit my photos are still aren't that amazing compared to other's but I have to use what I got, gurl. If you don't have fancy camera, that's okay. You're not the only one, you're not alone. All you need is your smartphone. It can do so much. Trust me.

What do you think will add to the list of truths about blogging?

  4. I love and agree with all of this! I thought I had to have a fancy camera to take pictures on, but I don't understand them at all, so I have stuck with my phone and I seem to be doing okay with it. Blogging really does take up all of your time too, it seems like there is always something to do!xx

    1. Me too T.T My idea of being consistent is to post a blog post at least once a week. I can't really be like everyone else who posted every 2 days or so. I just can't haha!

Yesss, at the end of the day you just have to enjoy. That's all that matters :)

  7. Takes time... exactly my dear! To produce a so called good content need effort and mood. To type without backspacing, I think only natural blogger can do it. If that blogger prefers proofread before publishing, that consume more time.

Honestly, another thing that can make my heart beat rapidly is when suddenly a not-so-close friend or a stranger greets me and says, "hey I think I've read your blog!" HAHAHA it is awkward for me. baca diam-diam sudahhhhh.

  9. 'It takes up a lot of time'... and effort.

I started blogging really plain. I got no phone or camera, no internet at home, no knowledge about coding, html and css. I used to stay up almost 8-9 hours making my own layout or blogwalking.

Blogwalking is a huge effort for your blog marketing and exposé hahaha leaving your 'footprints' for other bloggers to notice your existence is really hard. And for that, I find it rude when other bloggers left a comment on my post and i didn't even bother to check out their page and comment back.

I really like this post. It's like you've read my mind hahaha

    1. Blogging can be overwhelming sometimes. I admit. But I would say, don't over think about it lah as blogging is not our main source of income right?

I used to blogwalking so much but over time, I didn't do it as much anymore. Maybe I'll drop comments on 1 or 2 posts and just read the other posts without dropping any comments.

Thanks! Glad you like it x
