Mistakes I Made When I First Started Blogging

Saturday, October 29, 2016

When I initially started blogging, it was 5 years ago and I would say it was a sort of accidental result. I ended up on blogger when a friend of mine introduced me to it and I thought it was cool to have a blog because it is rare! So, I am in. But my idea of blogging was rather unclear and I used it as medium to express my anger, hatred and above all, my love life. Puppy love, I might add.

Fast forward to a few years where I grew up and so did my mind, I wanted to erase all the negative vibe and clean them up. So I made decision to delete my previous blog and promised to never get involve in blogging. BUT! I missed it. I missed sharing, I missed writing and I miss getting to know awesome people. So I ventured back into this world of awesomeness a year back and this is when all the learning began.

This is the space where I learnt things, I made mistakes, errors etc. And I want to share the mistakes with you today.

Too focusing on quantity over quality
Back in the day, I thought that it was better to have something posted (even though it is not beneficial) rather than I miss a day. I would write 10 post that are short and don't provide any information at all.

Didn't consider the readers
At the very beginning, my blog was all about me. It was about things that were going on in my life, food I ate, places I visited or topics I was interested in. Now I am not saying it is a bad thing, but I didn't consider the readers. I didn't ask questions, I didn't respond to any comments at all, it was always about me and I wasn't that friendly as well.

Wasn't building relationships or engaging with the readers
On the same note, I wasn't building a relationship with my readers. Building a relationship is one of the keys to getting people to return to your blog. I remember I disabled the comment section on my blog because it seemed ugly. WHAT WAS I THINKING!?

Poor grammar
I will be the first one to admit that my grammar wasn't that good, but I am getting better. I posted a lot of entries with poor grammar back then. I didn't fix all the silly little mistakes and I wasn't even care how my content looks.

What are your blogging mistakes did you make when you first starting out?

Sephora 10HR Wear Perfection Foundation

Wednesday, October 26, 2016

It is time for a foundation review! Today, I want to share my thoughts on this foundation. I bought it from Sephora (obviously) at NU Sentral and it retails for RM78.

This foundation claims to "corrects your skin tone, delivers a natural, flawless finish. It reduces the appearance of wrinkles, blemishes, pigmentation, scars and dark spots. It also protects your skin from sun-caused aging and also paraben free. "

It is a glass bottle and I personally don't trust myself with glass. But everything is okay so far. It has a pump which is good in terms of hygiene.

It has a satin finish which I don't really mind because I just can set it with powder later on. It is very natural on the skin, I can still see my skin underneath. It has a skin finish too, I would say.

It is a light to medium coverage, I believe. I did mention that I can still see my skin underneath. So, it is in no way a full coverage foundation. Also, it is buildable without leaving my face look cakey. So, I am good.

The texture is quite thick but feels very light upon application.

Staying power:
It lasts longer than I thought (6hrs wear) but at the end of the day my face will appear super oily. To prevent that thing happen, I have to blot my face.

  • Looks really natural on the skin
  • Clears all my redness
  • Easy to blend and buildable
  • Sleek packaging and has a pump
  • Lasts longer than I thought
  • Does not cause me breakouts
  • It contains less than 1 ounce
  • Super oily at the end of the day
  • Not enough to cover my dark spots
This foundation is gorgeous. I love it because it looks goddamn natural on my skin. This foundation would be my holy grail foundation if it lasts a little longer and not melted on my nose area. All in all, it is a good foundation and I recommend it if you are looking for a foundation with a skin finish and "affordable". I give it 4/5

Photo of me wearing the foundation without setting it with any powder.

I hope you find his helpful in any way. Till next time!

My Go-To Lip Colors

Monday, October 24, 2016

If you followed me on Instagram, you know how much I love to post selfies there. Nothing much you can find on my Instagram, only selfies. With my friend, sometimes. I always getting asked about my makeup and sometimes they DM me. They complimented my makeup and stuff like that. I am flattered! And there was this girl asking me what lipstick I always wear. I have soooo many colors in my makeup storage, but these colors are my favorite of all time. I am not going to organize the colors according to shades or finishes or whatsoever. Ain't nobody got time for that.

These are the well-loved colors. These 9 colors are the ones that I will always repurchase, that I will pack when I travel, I even bring them to school! Sometimes, I love to mix and match these colors to create my own lip combo.

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul
I love the shade of this lip cream but sometimes it can be too light for my skin tone. I am confused with this lip cream. But this is the matte lip cream that does not dry my lips like crazy.

CLIO Lipnicure Glass in Heartbreaker
It is tiny but oh boy the price.. The color is nice and it is a tint but you can wear it like a normal lip cream too without all the gradient look. The pigment is good, staying power is A+ but strangely very drying. My lips are all chapped by the end of the day but what can I say, the color is so nice so I am hooked.

Simplysiti Ultra Moist Lipstick in Ku Mahu
I have been wearing this lipstick ever since I bought it. It is super hydrating. This lipstick is the ones I would pick if I don't know what lip color I should be wearing that day. Nice shade, nice finish.

Essence Lipliner in 06 Satin Mauve
Beautiful shade for only RM6! I saw it, glad I grabbed it. This lip liner is very universal, I mean the color matches with almost all of my lip products. And it is still nice if you wear it all alone, just line the outer lips and fill it in. Bam! New lipstick.

MAC Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy
My holy grail. My favorite nude. I wear it almost every day because I am obsessed with it. I swear by this lipstick. It is matte but it is still hydrating. I mean, I never experienced extreme chapped lips when I wear this lipstick. I like to combine Velvet Teddy with any other lip color sometimes to create my desired lip combo.

IN2IT Gel Tint in Strawberry
Girl, I cannot live without this gel tint. I like the pigment of it, the staying power, and I think it is the best lip product created by IN2IT. It is affordable too! RM10?? Heck yeah.

Silkygirl Matte Junkie in Retro
Silkygirl has stepped up their lip game. I am already in my... what? 3rd tube? 4th? I don't know. The shade is so beautiful and this lip cream is so affordable. The color payoff is superb. It lasts the whole day. But the thing is, they sold out pretty fast.

Silkygirl Matte Junkie in Glamour
I need some pink lip color in my makeup storage so I grab this baby. I thought I can never pull this shade but turns out it fits my skin tone very well. It is my favorite now! This shade makes my teeth appear whiter too lol.

Silkygirl Matte Junkie in Vintage
You see how obsessed am I with this Silkygirl's new matte lip cream? I bought extra color because let's be real, the color is pretty nice. It is perfect for any occasion, for everyday use and stuff. If you ask me which one is my favorite Matte Junkie, Vintage it is. Retro sometimes can be too orange on my lips and Glamour can be too light for my skin tone. So, Vintage for the win.

All in all, most of my go to lip colors are in the pinks, nude, pinkish nude, mauve and brownish nude range. I like reds but reds have been in 'gray days' in my lippie collection. I only wear it if I am going somewhere fancy, perhaps an event or a dinner.

So, what are your go to lip colors? Have you tried any of these lip colors above?

How I Relax After A Long Day

Friday, October 21, 2016

The brain is fogged up with stress, strain and exhaustion. We all have this kind of days, right? When I have a day like this, most of the time I will go home pissed off and immediately crawl into bed. I actually hate doing this. I mean, go to sleep worrying and then the next day resulting in more stress. I need more in my life than just school, assignment and sleep. So, here's some of the ways I do in order to help my mind and body recharge.

I drink something hot
Coffee, tea, hot chocolate or anything will do. Just breathing in the warm aroma and steam can help open up my sinuses and help me feel refreshed. I love to use a big mug and wrap my hands around it, then blow it a little and slowly sip it as I feel my throat and body being warmed.

I listen to music
Listening to music might be one of my favorite ways to recuperate after a long day. Seriously. After a long day, certain songs have the power to combat any negative thoughts in my head. All I have to do is grab my phone, I search for songs or playlist that reminds me of happy things, then I turn the volume up and let the good tunes play on repeat.

I read a book
I realized that after a few minutes of reading a good book, my mind has completely redirected itself. Instead of lost in the busy pages of school and assignments, I am now lost in the pages of a good story. How cool is that!?

I write
Personally, journal therapy is a good way to help a lot of issues in life, be it relationships, stresses or even works. I will write down all the worries or struggles I am facing in my journal and it is somehow very helpful for me to overcome 'em later.

I work out
Even though I might be exhausted and lethargic from the day, fitting in and doing some cardio (not shopping cardio) can actually help me feel less tired and I will be in a good mood for the rest of the day and most importantly I don't have to think about stuff that worries me for a while. It helps a lot! Whenever I had an issue, I will tell myself to go sweat it out. Less stress, less fat :)

Above all, sometimes it's okay to just sit somewhere comfortable and do absolutely nothing. Your body needs a break, so give it a break. You can take an ample time to focus on yourself, meditate on good things in life and just let it all go. Okay?

So, how do you relax after a long day? Have you tried the ways mentioned?

Revlon Warehouse Sale Mini Haul

Sunday, October 09, 2016

So, I went to the Revlon warehouse sale at Novel Link U8 with my girls. I don't know all the details about the sale but I think it happens quite a few times in a year. I believe it's still going on. Go and grab em' beauty goodies while it's still on, girls! This is the first time I went to the sale. I went around 4PM and it was freaking busy and crowded; and most of the hottest pick items were already gone. Okay let's get onto the haul.

Here's everything I have picked up. I managed to get 6 lip products, 3 single eye shadows and a highlighter. IKR! I am the happiest girl in the whole wide world.

I spent so much time at the lippie section because it was so tempting so see boxes and boxes of lip products that worth RM10 for 3! Not to mention that I am a lipstick junkie. Pretty good deal but none of the lip products above are matte. Basically just gloss, shine and suede.

Single eye shadows that worth RM10 for 3 too! I was searching like crazy because I always wanted a single eye shadow in my makeup collection; and now I have 3. I cannot wait to play with these colors.

Do not freak out with the color. It is pink now, but once applied on the skin it gives a gorgeous glow with a little hint of pink. Worth my RM15 because it is such a gorgeous and unique highlight. I can use it for eye shadow too or a blush, right? Doesn't mean it's meant for highlight, you are restricted. Just play around with it :)

That's that. Have you ever went to the Revlon warehouse sale? This is my first time and I enjoyed it! Till then x

How I Use My Aloe Vera Gel

How I Use My Aloe Vera Gel | Lenne Zulkiflly

Hello people! I have an obsession. I am obsessed with everything aloe vera. I have been on my healthy skin journey for nearly a year. All hail aloe vera gel! Lol. So, my newest favourite skin discovery is aloe vera gel. Gel has actually been a 'grey area' in my regimen because I have never been a big fan of gel. But, I do now!

How I Use My Aloe Vera Gel | Lenne Zulkiflly

So, this is the aloe vera gel I am currently using. I definitely used the heck out of this gigantic tube! I got this baby from Guardian for RM32. You can obviously do all of these things using any aloe vera gel, be it this one right here or not. I know Nature Republic also has a popular aloe vera gel. Without any further ado, let's!

1. Treating puffiness

Aloe vera is very much helpful in treating puffiness of your eyes. Just grab aloe vera gel and dab on your under eye erea. It helps a lot especially in the morning.

2. Healing wounds

If you have any wounds, blisters or cuts (like I always do) on your skin, just rub the aloe vera gel gently on the affected area to heal them fast. It is true because I have tried it quite few times ;)

3. A lip treatment

You guys know my drying... It is the worst that can happen to me because I love to rock liquid lipsticks. To combat dry and chapped lips, I just apply the aloe vera gel on the lips to hydrate and heal them. Sometimes when I feel extra fancy schmancy, I love to mix it with a little bit of olive oil and it works wonders as a lip balm! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

4. Removing dandruff

I know that aloe vera gel is very multi purpose and multi function. So I tried to apply the gel in the front area of my hair and scalp and tell you what, it did a great job at removing my stubborn dandruff!

5. Removing acne

Seems impossible? But nah, it worked! Apply the aloe vera gel on the acne affected skin and acne will surely lessen in just few days. It reduces the swelling, inflammation and prevents further break out. I haven't gotten acne for months!

6. Soothe sunburn

Aloe vera gel is the perfect remedy for sunburned skin because it has cooling properties and anti-inflammatory. It heals the skin from layer to layer and helps to retain moisture from there. I go to campus by motorcycle, so aloe vera gel is definitely a gem because it gets the job done y'know. I apply it all over the face, hands, arms and feet. No sunburn skin no more!

7. A makeup remover

I have had a hard time finding the best makeup remover for my skin because I have oily skin type and most makeup remover at stores are oil-based. So, I have a friend that uses aloe vera gel as her makeup remover and I thought maybe I can give it a go. And yes gurl, it is a simple and effective alternative if you are facing the same problem as me. I just dip my cotton pad into the aloe vera gel and swipe away the day. It does not feel sticky, greasy or whatsoever. So fresh so clean!

8. A moisturizer

If you don't already know, aloe vera gel can also act as a moisturizer. I have been using my aloe gel as a moisturizer for years now. It suits well my skin, I have had hard times finding the perfect moisturizer for my skin type and I guess I have found the one.

Those are the ways I use my aloe vera gel. How do you use it? Tell me in the comments, I would love to know! I hope this post helped you somehow.

Till then x

New To My Makeup Collection and Inexpensive Too!

Sunday, October 02, 2016

Hi and assalamualaikum lovely people! From the bottom of my heart I apologize for not being consistent and productive with my blog. As you may aware (or may not aware), life and college  are sometimes take precedence over any other consideration. I am so sorry. So in today's post, let's talk about inexpensive items I just got!

1. BB Cushion [link]

If you are not a big fan of foundation but a BB cushion hoarder like me, you may try this Maybelline Super BB Cushion. In my opinion, this product is quite affordable compare to other brands that would cost you hundreds. This BB cushion retails for RM47 (pretty good deal, I would say) and it is suitable for normal to oily combination skin types.

2. Eye shadow [link]

Eye shadow tends to fail for a few reasons, either it oxidizes or it disappears within few hours or it sneaks into your creases and the reason can go on and on! I have oily skin but these eye shadows, Sorbet Deluxe by IN2IT and Bronze Palette by Essence does not do that shady stuff. It works just as well as a pricier eye shadows out there. These eye shadows retails about RM20 to RM23. The pigmentation and staying power is pretty good and mi love it!

3. Eyebrow pencil and powder [link] [link]

My eyebrows need to be on point at all times because I have the saddest brows. Yeah, I am lacking in that department. To get the job done, I use this Micro Eyebrow Pencil by Cyber Colors (retails for RM30) and I top it off with Maybelline's 3D Brow and Nose Palette (retails for RM 26). The eyebrow pencil has an ultra-fine tip that gives me control to sculpt my brows. I am loving these two gems because they go together! And I always get compliments about my brows. All cheap products, my dear.

4. Highlighter

I cannot go out if my face is not blingin' gurl. I need that extra glow to breathe. As for now, I am loving this Shimmer Bricks from Odbo that retails for RM20. That two shades from above are my holy grail glow because they are almost similar to high beam and mary lou's glow. Yup. They are very intense and noticeable so I am happy with that.

That's that. I really cannot 'tahan' myself from buying makeup lol. So! Tell me, are you all about the splurge or skimp? As for your girl here, to splurge on a very wtf expensive makeup is not really my thang. I beli jugak but tak selalu. I mean, there are shitload of less expensive makeup out there that works wonder. But, who am I to judge. You do you boo.

Till then! x
