Brow Routine: My Idea Of Perfect Brows

Saturday, January 14, 2017
I have come to believe that brows aren't easy to do and much more complicated than most people think. It takes a lot of practice and patience to master the 'perfect brows'. Actually, it only takes a few simple steps. I always getting asked about my brows, how I do them and getting compliments etc. I don't have so much brow hairs to be honest and I feel so insecure whenever I go out and not getting them done. I used to hate my brows but when I started to play with makeup, I know makeup will be my best friend. And I looked up tons of tutorials of how to get them done and I just practice, practice, practice.

So I thought I would finally give you a step by step of how I get them done and give you guys some tips and tricks maybe. Here it goes!

Step #1: Brush them up
First things first, I will brush them eyebrow hairs in an upward motion with a spoolie brush. I usually do this step to see where they need filling in and from there I will notice where I have to trim and pluck. And this brings to my second step.

Step #2: Pluck them stray hairs
I'm a huge believer that if you don't 'clean' your brows, all those hard works are useless, honey boo. So I will always tweeze my stray hairs to make it appear 'clean'. I'm won't go too cray-cray with the tweezers, they simply giving a clean start. Beauty is pain, gurl. However, it's not that painful. Once you start plucking your brows regularly, you will soon get used to the pain and your eyes won't water as much. My tip is begin by identifying the stray hairs and quickly pull in the direction that they grow. That way, it will be less painful.

Step #3: Shading them brows
The trick when shading the brow is not to start at the front brow. If you do that, you will end up with a harsh, blocky and square brow that looks far from natural. So the tip is to begin at the center of the brow and use a fine eyebrow pencil like the one I'm using, which is the Silkygirl Expert Brow Slim Liner. It's amazing! Okay, next I will fill them in using short strokes. That way I have more control and them brows will appear natural-looking.

Step #4: Powder them up
Maybelline Fashion Brow 3D Brow and Nose Palette is the eyebrow powder that I swear by. Definitely my favorite. I use an angled brush and dip the brush into the powder and very lightly powder them brows to add definition. The brush provided is freaking small and very hard to hold. So I just go with my own brush. It's easier that way. This step must be done with a very light hand because Sharpie brow is a no no.

Step #5: Brush, brush, brush
Brush through with the spoolie brush again to blend the pencil and powder together and to soften any harsh lines. However, if I'm not happy with it, I will continue to the next step.

Step #6: Clean up with concealer
This is actually an option. Sometimes I will just skip this step especially when I'm in a hurry. But if I really into my brows, I will clean the edges using concealer and apply it with a small flat brush. I will go around the brows to clean them and make it 'on fleek!' lol. All the things we do for brows. I figured that this step is actually useful for those who are afraid to pluck their stray hairs! Oh gurl, don't you worry. Concealer will definitely conceal them shady situation up there so you don't have to commit to the pain of plucking your eyebrows.

Step #7: Set them brows
Finally, the last step! I will finish everything with a brow gel. The one I'm using is from Benefit Gimme Brow. It's one of the best brow gel I have ever encounter. The brush is very small and precise and perfect for the brow hairs that I don't really have because I'm lacking in that department. It also lasts the whole day, maybe more. You know what, it's always better if you set your brows because you never know what kind of day you will go through, so brow gel definitely helps you to make your brows stay put and lasts the whole day.

And voila, there you have it. There isn't that much to achieve the beautiful and 'perfect brows' that you see all over Instagram. As you can see, I'm using very basic products that probably everyone is using and can be find at most drugstore. Anyway, that's it for today! I really hope that you enjoyed this post and that maybe it also helped you.

What are your tips for getting the 'perfect brows'? What are the products in your eyebrow routine you swear by? Let me know! xx

IN2IT Sheer Shimmer Blush in Pink Pearl

Saturday, January 07, 2017

I had been hoping to find what could be a possible drugstore alternative to my MAC's Mineralize Blush in the shade "Dainty" which I already hit pan on. Since I'm on the mission to save money this year, I know a lot of drugstore blushes out there won't disappoint me. So I stumbled upon Watsons a few weeks ago and swatched a heck lot of blushes on my hand. I came across IN2IT blushes, I swatched them and I think I have found the one. The color is pretty similar to my MAC blush but more to the pink side and more shimmery. I was torn in two. I mean, I like the color but a little too shimmery for my liking. However, I don't want to hurt my pocket either to go to MAC store and buy the exact same one.

After tut-tutting at the aisle for a little while, I decided to get my hands on this baby. Whatever, it's cheaper and can be double as a highlighter, right? So let's jump right in!

Pretty, clear and practical packaging

It comes in a clear compact and I love that I'm able to see the product itself without having to open it. I love packaging like this because it's practical. Let's be real, isn't the lid look cute and pretty to y'all? I mean look at 'em flowers! I'm totally in love. On the other hand, it has a sturdy container, sleek and simple looking. A+ for the packaging.

Price and availability
I bought mine at Watsons for MYR16.90. I would say it's a reasonable price indeed for something just about perfect in a quality. IN2IT is available at most health and beauty departments in leading drugstore company such as Watsons and Guardian.

Soft texture and dome-like powder

The texture of this blush is super soft and has a great quality powder. It's very fine and applies sheerly on the cheeks which giving me the choice to build up the color. I think it's a baked powder blush although it doesn't state whether it's baked or not, but you can already tell by the appearance.

Pearlescent finish

At first, this is what concerns me the most because I have an oily skin. Meaning to say that I have to apply the product carefully on the cheeks otherwise I will look like a walking disco ball. That's not really a concern. Turns out it's actually not that bad. I get a sheen that isn't too shimmery, it's more like a pearlescent, so I don't have things sparkling like chunks of glitters on my face. That's a good news. I get a nice, subtle icy-pink glow. It looks gorgeous when it catches light. It's like a blush and highlighter in one.

  • It gives a healthy glow
  • High quality powder
  • Affordable
  • Has a clear, sturdy and an attractive packaging
  • Stays for more than 5 hours on my oily skin
  • Buildable and easy to blend
  • Can be double as a highlighter
  • Soft and creamy texture
  • The container is a scratch prone
  • Isn't paraben-free, but most drugstore makeup isn't anyway

Comparison to my MAC Mineralize blush

All in all, I'm loving this blush. It's a hit for me and I'm totally into it. I really recommend you to try this product because it's a pretty decent brand and the quality is just about perfect. However, if you are a fan of matte, pigmented blush, then this isn't for you. This blush acts more like a colored highlighter to me. It gives a nice wash of color along with it without being too overwhelming yet gives a healthy glow that could be achieved in a highlighter.
My rating: 4 out of 5
I really hope you enjoyed this post and find it very helpful! Let me know your favorite blush and if you've ever tried any product from this brand.

My 2016 in Alphabetical Order

Monday, January 02, 2017
Happy new year everyone! I hope everyone around the globe had a blast and let's hope 2017 is a good one. I'm feeling very relax and I just want to chill. I wasn't planning on write or post anything today actually but whatever. So let's!

my 2016 in alphabetical order

A | Ampoule. It's something that has to do with skin care and I discovered it in 2016. To be honest, I don't think it did something to my skin so far but in the long run? I don't know. #PrayForMySkin

B | Breathe. Doesn't matter if I'm mad or sad or anxious, breathe is the best technique for me to like get my shit together yknow. No matter what it is, I just inhale and exhale slowly and I'm all good.

C | Corn in a cup. It's like the best thing to munch on and perfect for sweater weather.

D | "Dang gurl". Is probably my most used words throughout the year.

E | Eyebrows. I may not have the best tools for my eyebrow game but I still manage to get it on fleek all bloody time. But really though, you don't have to have much to make something happen :)

F | Face masks. If you don't already know, I'm a biggest fan of face mask. I love to tweet my thoughts on certain masks, but not all the time. Just go to Guardian, Watsons, Sasa or any drugstore and you will bound to "face mask heaven" 😄

G | Google. Google is like my best friend now. I personally too lazy to Google but year 2016 has required me a lot of Google-ing so yeah.

H | Hash browns. I started to love hash browns again after not eating it for couple of years. And still after so long, McDonald's hash browns are still the best hash browns invented.

I | Ignore. I chose to ignore negative vibes be it on my blog here or in real life. It's not worth the time so might as well ignore it.

J | Jealousy. I'm a jealous person by nature. I used to have this negative initial reaction towards people's achievement or success. But in year 2016, I learned how to be grateful and not beating myself for not being as successful. And I learned it from the best.

K | Kylie Jenner. This may seem ridiculous or funny but I want to be Kylie Jenner so bad. She's so successful and she's living everything that I have to live without. Be grateful, lenne.

L | Lectures. I'm sick of it but I want to be educated so.

M | Maybelline. Probably one of my favorite drugstore brand and I discovered a lot of their products last year even though I'm broke. I didn't have the chance to share it here because my schedule is packed and I have quite a number of drafts that I need to work on and edit so please bear with me.

N | Nailed it. My presentations. I hate my school for having a heck lot of presentation every week but glad I nailed every single one of it.

O | Opportunity. I'm so blessed and thankful for 2016 as it opened up a lot of opportunities for me to grab. I feel different but in a good way.

P | Planning. Planning is the key. Not only for your life but for the blog. Lol. I mean I started using schedule post around the year of 2016. It makes your blog lit if you know how to plan and to know which post you need to get up first etc etc.

Q | Quizzes. I'm sick of it. Know what's worse? Online quizzes. Ugh it makes me nervous profusely.

R | Rain. I wish it rains more but wishing on that means I'm messing with people's photography game lol. I love rain. Who's with me?

S | Sales. Since I'm always broke, the word SALES doesn't intrigue me as per usual. I don't know if it's because I'm always broke or this is a huge wake up call telling me to save money. I don't know, maybe none of that two. Whatever.

T | Talk. Yes gurl, I learned from the best. No matter what you are facing in your relationship, no matter what the circumstances are, just talk. And don't leave things hanging. Talk. It's 2017. Grow up.

U | Unwrapping packages. I always get excited to open packages that came in the mail. Well, who doesn't? Also, I always want to do a blog post where we "unwrap things together" yknow but it never happened.

V | Vanilla. Need I say more? It's my ultimate favorite scent.

W | Wedding planning. I know what you're thinking. But gurl, I made a lot of planning and making decisions as if I'm going to tie the knot in 3 months time. I know gurl. I sometimes think that I'm too young for all of this but I think it's okay to at least have a plan because, again, planning is the key. Lol. But timing can be a bitch.

X | Xmas! Where I got seven days break from school (thank god!) and 70% of it I spent watching xmas movies and more oldies but goldies movies. Xmas is probably one of the most beautiful time of the year in my opinion because it gets colder and chilly outside. I just love it.

Y | Young at heart. I'm still behaving as if I'm younger than I really am. Trust me, I'm really playful (I'm turning 21 fgs!) but it's not childlike okay. Childlike is just plain annoying.

Z | Zzz. Obviously I can't think of any words lol. But seriously, sleep in is what I look forward to E-V-E-R-Y-D-A-Y. I know it sounds bad but whatever.

That's that. I hope you enjoy and make a version of yours! Have a good one and till then x.

Five Things In December

Wednesday, December 28, 2016
Oh 2016, it seems you are leaving as quickly as you arrived. You have been a tough one, you have tested my patience and pushed it to the limit. Ahh, the ups and downs. Did you all achieve what you set out to? Let's be real, did you set any goals at all? Whatever it is, hopefully we all have good memories and accomplishments to take with us into the new year.

But before anything, let's see what's up in December.

five things in december

The rental and bills are driving me nuts
The cost of  living in the city is just crazy. Crazy. I'm just a student and I'm unemployed. Recently, we just lost two house members and that means everyone has to pay more rental and bills than the usual to cover the payments of the two fellas. By all means, I have to cut off my beauty shopping expenses for the better. #AlwaysBrokeAnyway

Too many semester projects, too little time
I want the time to slow down so I can fit everything in it. No excuses though, but I haven't made time to blog lately. The semester projects are killing me. The last three weeks have been packed! I just started a new semester but it feels like a final week or something. Heck lot of presentation, project and submission. That's what has been keeping me busy these past few weeks. This is only the beginning girl, there's more to come and I should stop whining.

Taman Botani Negara
Ahh, roommates bonding time! We will have at least a day to discover places and just hangout. So this time, it's the Taman Botani Negara.

To be honest, we didn't discover the whole place though. We got so tired walking and waiting for the bus. They also provided cycling facilities that cost MYR10 for an hour but we're just not feeling it. #Cheapskate

Christmas movie marathon!
A week is about enough to have a movie marathon. I'm currently on Christmas break so why not? I just love the idea of snuggling with my plushie under the blanket while watching my all time fav Christmas movies and every once in a while listening to the sound of the pouring rain. Ahh, who doesn't love that!? Oh! And my all time favorite Christmas films definitely Home Alone, The Holiday, Love Actually and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. What is your favorite Christmas film?

I didn't make New Year's resolutions
I haven't made a New Year's resolution yet. Actually, I didn't plan on making one just because I feel like it's useless. I have set out so many goals for the past.. I don't know, 3 years? And I didn't achieve any of them. I feel like it's almost impossible for me to achieve if I make one. I see plenty of bloggers resolving this and that and that's a good thing. But I don't know, I don't need New Year's resolution to spur me this time. If I want it, then I want it and I'm going to achieve it. There's nothing I need to resolve to do, nothing dramatic or requiring a resolution to push me forward. That's that.
All in all, I hope you had a splendid December and meaningful 2016. May 2017 brings you many joy and happiness! 💖

For When I Have 30 Minutes To Get Ready

Wednesday, December 21, 2016
30 minutes... Maybe not that bad to some of you, you can still rock that ankle boots, wing that eyeliner etc. But not for your homegirl. It's a disaster. I need at least an hour and a half. I love to take my time. I hate the idea of rushing, hurrying - just no. It can be stressful as heck and tiring in the early hours of my day! So in today's post, I will be sharing what I usually do when I only have stressful 30 minutes to get ready and how I still show up looking well-fed.

for when i have 30 minutes to get ready

5 minutes shower or less
The key here is to multitasking. You gotta do what you gotta do honey. I usually will brush my teeth and pee at the same time. Now, I have tons of shower gel in my bathroom I don't even know why. My go-to shower cream is the Lux Magical Spell because the smell is to die for, plus it lasts the whole day!

Choose the simplest and fuss-free outfit
By simple and fuss-free I mean I cut the fuss to iron my outfit. Ain't nobody got time for that. A dress, jumpsuit or basically one-piece outfit will do the job. That's that. While I'm in the shower, I will hang my outfit as well as my anti-wrinkle hijab and no one will know I got up a half hour ago. #NoShame

"Go for the simple and easy but gives impact makeup look"
I go by this mantra when I'm in a hurry. It's better for me to keep it simple or else I will be running late. Even though I only have 30 minutes to get ready, I honestly feel naked if I don't at least have a little lipstick and perhaps perky eyelashes. So my logic is that I cut off products that are less important such as primer, foundation and eyeliner.

My first picks when I'm running late are the Maybelline White Super Fresh CC Cream, Silkygirl Shine-Free Loose Powder, MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty, Maybelline The Magnum Volum' Express Mascara, and MAC Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy.

Simple. Easy. But high impact? Girl, you gotta play with the mascara. That's the impact. It really changes the whole look! Don't trust me? Go give your eyelashes some coats of mascara now. My secret is to apply several coats of mascara. By several I mean profusely. One thing that concerns me is that the mascara I'm using is flippin' hard to remove! Other than that, I love it. It holds the curl, doesn't budge and smudge. Mi love it <3

Eat on the go
Oh, homegirl gotta have her breakfast or else she gets grumpy. Lol. I make it crucial to have breakfast because I know I'm going to have a long day, everyday. A quick breakfast is what I'm up to. Now, a quick breakfast doesn't have to be unhealthy. Keep that in mind. You have wide range of alternatives. What I like to have on the go is either full oatmeal cookies or scrambled egg sandwich or an apple.

There we have it! Just a few things I do to help me get ready in a rush and still look and feel great. Regardless, there is a small element of planning shall involved - it's better to think ahead the night before to make sure you have picked the right outfit and not forgetting important things like keys and phone.
What do you do when you only have 30 minutes to get ready? Is 30 minutes really enough?
